Saybrook House
Vintage Revival, Stoke Newington
118.28 sqm / 1273 sqft
This Victorian home in Stoke Newington was in desperate need of refurbishment - our clients wanted to bring it back to life thoughtfully, honouring the building’s original character, while introducing warmth, calm and a hint of Scandinavian simplicity.

Layered Living
The original floorboards were sanded and stained and fireplace surrounds uncovered and softened. We introduced a soft palette of chalky greens, natural oaks and earthy textiles to tie the rooms together. Vintage and handcrafted pieces - many sourced or already owned by our client - bring the story to life.
Dining Delights
In the dining room, tradition meets tactility. The heritage proportions are celebrated - high ceilings, original cornicing, deep skirting - and softened with a muted green that responds beautifully to natural light. A sculptural wooden dining table anchors the room, flanked by well-loved chairs, an original marble fireplace and a collection of vintage artworks and ornaments. The result is a space that feels gathered, cultured and lived in without feeling curated.
Serene Slumber
In the main bedroom, calm reigns.
The walls are painted a muted sage - restful but warm - creating a backdrop for a softly curved upholstered headboard and layered natural linens. A vintage bedside cabinet with a marble top adds a quiet sculptural moment, while subtle patterning in the cushions introduces just the right amount of detail.
A room for slowing down.
Sleep in Serenity
The little girl’s room is playful without being sugary.
A soft wash of pastel pink creates a cocooning note, while woven baskets, natural wood and gauzy bunting add gentle whimsy. The raised bed becomes a miniature world: play space below, dreams above. It’s a bedroom that can evolve, without losing its magic.
Bathroom Balance
Calm and quietly luxurious, the bathroom pairs warm terrazzo with vertical white tiling for a soft, modern contrast.
Brushed brass fixtures feel refined yet understated, and the clean lines of the oak vanity keep the space feeling grounded and natural.
Everything is thoughtful, nothing is loud — a restorative retreat in the everyday.
Hallway Hush
The entrance sets the tone: pared back, functional, gentle.
Soft sage panelling wraps the space, grounding the pale walls above. A simple bench with wire baskets offers everyday practicality, while a terrazzo-style peg rail layers in a subtle moment of pattern. Touches of brass and natural timber feel warm without fuss — a quiet welcome home.
